Itinerary of Ponts and Mig Segre
It is an itinerary that is part of the Routes of the Counts of Urgell and that includes different towns. Each town offers an interesting variety of proposals:
- The Baronia de Rialb: set of small towns, towers and houses around the valley of the Rialb River. Natural places such as the "Forat de Bulí" or the numerous roman churches as well as the variety of the landscape also deserve to be praised.
- Oliola: small town, the charm of which comes from the remains of the old castle and from the roman church of Sant Tirs, modified during the XVIII century. We must also point out the original cemetery.
- Ponts: surrounded by market gardens and forests, it has many beautiful places to see such as the Park of the Segre and the church of Sant Pere de Ponts.
- Vilanova de l'Aguda: it is worth taking a walk along the main street, part of which is covered by an incredible arc and with the bell tower of the old church of Sant Andreu. Within the township, we also recommend visiting the town of Ribelles which conserves a castle restored at the beginning of the century and a roman church.
Narrow pass of Tresponts (E - 25794 Organyà)
In this impressive gorge, the landscapes changes until they end as a real typical panorama of the Catalan Pyrenean mountains. The Segre River goes down between dark rocks and green meadows. Downstream, the landscape changes: after the calcareous rock a typical Pyrenean landscape emerges that extends until a small cultivated river basin where the river disappears.
